Haydn James

Haydn formally studied management and project management and has worked in the management field for over forty years, including legal office, medical/chiropractic office and, for the last sixteen years, dental office and dental operations management.

He’s personally worked in and managed dental offices, ranging in size from a small, boutique type dental practice to one that became, at the time he ran it, the largest single-location dental practice in the USA at over fifty chairs, delivering adult, pediatric, orthodontic dentistry as well as oral surgery in its own surgery wing. The practice had its own in-house lab and dental assistant training school.

Later, Haydn ran his own dental practice management consulting company, specializing in troubleshooting practices that should have been doing better or which had done better in the past but had lost their way, writing books on dental office practice management, dental scheduling, treatment coordinating and practice financial management in order to better assist owner-dentists.

For the last nine years he’s worked with great success in DSO operations and is currently consulting for a DSO and writing a training manual for regional operations managers to better understand the principles of management and key elements of project management vital to their success.

On a personal note, Haydn is a Brit, married to what he calls his “American better half” Lucy, a specialist revenue cycle manager. With Lucy's expertise on the billing side, he feels there is no area of dentistry management he can’t cover.
